If you have gone through my other projects, having concrete as one of the materials should not come as a surprise. We used concrete for the main walls at the front and we had suspended chain hangers against the concrete, which added a feminine touch to the masculinity of concrete. Turned out to be a good contrast for our project. Materiality played a big role and we got very lucky with the neutral colour palette that Giorgio Armani stores usually opt for. Branding and sophistication was key in our design process.
Another two focal points were; the grand stairs and the live fashion show reel that would be playing at the landing of the mezzanine. The live reel gave the store a very Hollywood feel which would serve as intriguing for the customers. We wanted to make the shopping experience simple, yet grand. The stairs then became the focal point and if you look at the interior elements that are all symmetrical and geometrical. With the 25ft ceiling height and the suspended chains, it empasized on the volume of the space.
